Who we are

Jason A. Cooper, MD

Education and Professional Training:

Jason graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Brandeis University in 1991, and cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1995, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his residency at Fairfax Family Practice Centers, serving as Academic Chief Resident (1997–1998). For the past 25+ years, he has practiced at Herndon Family Medicine in Virginia and has been recognized multiple times as a Washingtonian and Northern Virginia Top Doctor.

As a board-certified family physician, Jason recognized the importance of teaching self-care and creating safe spaces for healing. He became certified in Mind-Body Medicine through The Center for Mind-Body Medicine in 2021 and earned his Level 3 Master Practitioner of Usui Reiki, his Level 2 Sekhem-Seichim Reiki Healing, and his Level 1 Shamanic Reiki certifications through The Reiki Center of Greater Washington.

Jason has studied with many esteemed teachers and healers, including Master Chunyi Lin, Melissa Joy Jonsson, Richard Bartlett, Michael Singer, Wayne Dyer, Eileen McKusick, Mellissa Seaman, Tara Brach, Dr. W. Brugh Joy, David Gleekel, and several swamis of the Sarasvati order.

While continuing his work as a family physician, Jason followed his calling to share mind-body healing with others. In 2023, he founded Mind Body Healing Arts, LLC, creating a safe space for teaching mindfulness, self-compassion, and holistic self-care.

Jason and Bari Cooper

Jason and Bari met while studying at Brandeis University and were married five years later. Now three decades into sharing their lives together, they are the proud parents of two adult sons. Bari practiced law before choosing to pause her career to focus on raising their family. She now serves as the administrator for Mind Body Healing Arts, LLC.

Jason spends his free time exploring mind body healing practices, reading, meditating, hiking, and enjoying time with the people he loves. Bari finds joy in preparing healthy meals, walking their dogs, teaching Judaic Studies, and unwinding with a favorite HGTV shows.
